Your letter handed to me today, addressed to the Earl of Kimberley, and which his lordship has directed me to forward as an occasion for enquiry into the administration of the law in this Colony and the circumstances under which a lenient sentence was awarded for a libel upon you, will be forwarded to his lordship when the Governor has received and considered the reports of the Chief Justice and the Law Officer in the subject.
